Outstanding Performances Philip Francis (Fairfax) vs. Trevore Archie (LA) - this was the match up everyone was waiting for. Francis had some of the top times in the nation and proved it by winning both the 100 and 200. Archie ran great, but Francis was too strong. It was exciting for everyone to see some of the top sprinters in California go head to head. Their times were fast - 10.5 to 10.7 and 21.5 to 22.0. Vanessa Menendez and Karen Cruz (F/S) - 1st and 2nd in the 3200 in 17:00. Keana McKnight (F/S) - 1st in 400 in 64.0 and 2nd in the 200 in 28.0. Mia DeSilva (F/S) - 1st in 100 13.0 and 3rd in 200 in 28.1. Brandon Kosoko (F/S) - 1st in 200 in 23.2 and fantastic second leg on the 1600 Relay. Alvin Ferrara, Derrick Roque, and Frank Salazar (V) go 1, 2, 3 in the Shot Put Alex Sim and Felipe Garcia (F/S) - Great runs in the 1 and 2 mile races. Abner Garcia (V) - 4:55 in 1600 and 2:12 in 800 and strong third leg on the 4x400. Alberto Lopez (F/S) - 1st in 800 in 2:16. Sheldon Straker (F/S) - Convincing wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles in 20.2 and 57.8. Davietta Beyan (V) - 1st in 100 hurdles in 28.53 Henock Solomon (F/S) - Outstanding 17.6 in 110 hurdles. Sam Williams, Luis Falla, and Marvin Vasquez (V) - 1,2,3 in 110 and 300 hurdles. Kevin Lewis - 1st in long and triple jump in 19'0" and 38'6" |

The only qualifier from L.A.H.S. was Trevore Archie who was entered in the 400 against the best competition in the state. He ran 22.8 for the 200 split, hit the 300 in first at 34.0 but then faded badly down the last 100. His final time was 54.0, but it does not reflect the effort he gave. Unfortunately on this day the last 100 meters was just not in his legs. |
